To promote the preservation of farmland and open space in Carroll County through public education and voluntary donations of conservation easements that restrict the development of land, and the purchase of easements when grant funds are available.
Service
Provides information to landowners on the advantages of donating conservation easements on land. Technical assistance is provided to process a donated easement; financial assistance is available to cover the costs of donating conservation easements, such as appraisal and recording fees. It is possible to get reimbursement (subject to available funds) for a portion of the value of an easement (bargain sale) when the remaining value of the easement is being donated. The Board of Directors meets bi-monthly, or as needed. The annual meeting is in April.
