- Purpose
- To support the American Legion Post in carrying out peacetime service to America, including many programs on veterans' affairs and rehabilitation, children and youth, and patriotic and community services.
- Service
- The five-point program of service encompasses patriotism, citizenship, discipline, leadership, and "Legionism." The S.A.L. is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion.
- Eligibility
- Open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of American Legion members, and male descendants of veterans who died in military service during wartime from World War I to the present or who died subsequent to honorable discharge from such service.
