To bring together those with an interest in birds and the environment.
Service
While birds are the main focus, many other aspects of natural history are explored such as butterflies, wildflowers, and animal signs. Guided hikes, approximately 15-20 per year, are offered at various locations. Meetings are 7:00 pm the first Wednesday of each month (excluding January, June, July, and August) at the Carroll Nonprofit Center, 255 Clifton Boulevard, Westminster, MD. These meetings offer a specialist, generally with a slide/lecture presentation, and are open and free to the public. Paid club membership includes membership in the Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) which gives the additional benefits of The Maryland Yellowthroat, a bimonthly calendar of events; Maryland Birdlife, a quarterly publication of articles and lists of birds sighted; use of the Maryland bird sanctuary property for birding and overnights in the houses, and representation through MOS in legislative issues concerning the environment.
