- Purpose
- To bring together those with an interest in birds and the environment.
- Service
- While birds are the main focus, many other aspects of natural history are explored such as butterflies, wildflowers, and animal signs. Guided hikes, approximately 15-20 per year, are offered at various locations. Meetings are 7:00 pm the first Wednesday of each month (excluding January, June, July, and August) at the Carroll Nonprofit Center, 255 Clifton Boulevard, Westminster, MD. These meetings offer a specialist, generally with a slide/lecture presentation, and are open and free to the public. Paid club membership includes membership in the Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) which gives the additional benefits of The Maryland Yellowthroat, a bimonthly calendar of events; Maryland Birdlife, a quarterly publication of articles and lists of birds sighted; use of the Maryland bird sanctuary property for birding and overnights in the houses, and representation through MOS in legislative issues concerning the environment.
