To offer disability related training, education, publications, and events for children and adults with disabilities, their families and caregivers, and healthcare and education professionals.
Service
Members work to enhance quality of life regardless of the nature or severity of the disability, empower individuals with disabilities to achieve economic self-sufficiency and independent living, and promote inclusion to enjoy full participation in society. Offers the World of Possibilities Expos in Timonium, the largest disabilities expo in the mid-Atlantic region; the Caring Kit, which shows individuals how to start a community-based respite care training program; the Caring Network, a registry to match parents seeking temporary or respite care for their children with disabilities with a trained caregiver, and local respite care trainings. All caregivers have been trained by Caring Communities. Publications include the World of Possibilities magazine and About Our Family, a respite care workbook. Please call for additional information.
Eligibility
Open to all families of children, adults, seniors and veterans with disabilities statewide.
Fees
No fees are charged for the Caring Network registry services; nominal entrance fee for Expo.
Ages served
Care is provided for individuals with disabilities from infant to 21 years old.
