Conducts extensive waterfowl research studies. Initiates construction of habitat programs and water-control structures to stabilize habitat areas. Makes provisions for good nesting habitat, adequate wintering grounds, and sufficient staging areas for North American waterfowl. To date, Ducks Unlimited has completed 2,900 wetland projects, varying in size from small prairie potholes to complexes of more than 400,000 acres in this region and more than 9.4 million acres throughout North America. More than 3,600 nationwide chapters provide public information and education on conservation issues. Each of these chapters helps generate community participation in DU banquets and fund-raising events throughout the year.
