Purpose
To provide lifelong advocacy services to Marylanders with developmental disabilities when their parents are no longer able (or sooner as arranged by parents.)
Service
Experienced Advocates address the preferences, needs, and rights of Marylanders with I/DD. Parents determine the frequency of assessment visits, monitoring contacts, and when services begin. Serves as a resource for parents, remaining siblings, and/or trustees. Formed by parents in 1965, By Their Side is a family funded non-profit 501(c)3 charitable corporation and is governed by a volunteer board of directors.
Eligibility
A diagnosis of developmental disability, eligible for DDA services and a Maryland resident to be eligible.
Fees
One time fee for Annual Assessment visit; $85/hour for members or $100/hour for non members for additional advocacy services
