- Purpose
- To protect the state of Maryland against attack and disaster, and contribute to the defense of the nation.
- Service
- Upon enlisting into the Maryland Army National Guard, you can sign a contract to serve for 6 years on active reserve and 2 years on inactive ready reserve. During the first 6 years you will serve one weekend a month and two weeks of annual training, usually during the summer.

- Enlistment is open to all who qualify.

- Age requirement: 17 to 34, unless you have prior service.
