Purpose | To preserve and promote the history of Sykesville and surrounding areas. |
Service | Serves as the regulating body for the Sykesville Historic District. Reviews and approves or disapproves applications for permits to make alterations or new construction in the Historic District. Provides information on desirable methods of maintenance and restoration. Maintains a collection of antiques, documents, and artifacts pertaining to local history, housed at the Sykesville Gate House Museum of History. Monthly meetings are 7 pm the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Sykesville Town Office. Meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome. |
Eligibility | Membership is limited to seven commissioners appointed by the Mayor of Sykesville. Residency is required for four of the seven commissioners. |
Fees | A fee is required for permit applications. No fees are charged for membership or meetings. |
