Purpose | The Gate House Museum promotes the curiosity of visitors and residents of the Sykesville area through its collections, displays, and educational programs. |
Service | The Gate House Museum serves as a public history museum with artifacts and displays related to the history of the Town of Sykesville as well as the larger Freedom District of Carroll County, MD. Our archive is available for perusal by appointment and contains issues of the Sykesville Herald newspaper (1913-1984), genealogy references, and documentation related to Springfield Hospital Center (primarily c. 1896-1960). We hold free public programs, Hospital grounds tours, workshops and homeschool events throughout the year-check out our Facebook page for more details on these events. |
