PurposeThe mission of Project Linus is to comfort hurting children (birth through age 18) with the gift of a new, handmade blanket. Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) charity. We have a two-fold mission. First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers." Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children. Visit www.projectlinus.org to learn more.
ServiceVolunteers work in their own homes or in groups (such as church, homemakers, schools, or guilds) on their own schedule to sew, knit, or crochet blankets. Single-layer no-sew blankets (fringed fleece blankets) are also welcomed. Volunteers are sometimes needed to pick-up, deliver, and label the blankets. Donations are always needed, such as blankets, blanket-making supplies (cotton, flannel, or fleece fabric), yarn, thread, sewing supplies, working portable sewing machines, money for needed supplies, blanket labels, bags, and gift cards from stores such as JoAnn fabrics or WalMart for supplies. All donations can be dropped off at the following locations: Joann, 20 Englar Rd, Westminster, MD Hampstead WalMart, 2320 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, MD (bin near customer service desk) Manchester Pharmacy, 3321 Main Street, Manchester, MD South Carroll Senior Center, 5928 Mineral Hills Road, Eldersburg, MD Mt.
