Purpose | This organization has the following purposes: 1. To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship. 2. To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education. 3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in education. 4. To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interest of education and of women educators. 5. To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to women educators from other countries. 6. To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action. 7. To inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society. |
Service | The Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma provides a community service focus at each chapter meeting. We offer a scholarship to a McDaniel College student in the Masters in Teaching program. We make charitable donations to Shepherd's Staff, the Boys and Girls Club of Westminster, Together-We-Own-It, local food pantries, and other organizations. We support our members who are working to improve the lives of children in the schools. We partner with Title I Schools by supporting classroom teachers and serving as volunteers. |
Eligibility | After a minimum of one year of outstanding teaching. |
Fees | Dues are $75, a one-time induction fee of $10 and the cost of a pin. |
Area Served | Serves Carroll County. |
