PurposeFounded in 1939, Leader Dogs for the Blind empowers people who are blind or visually impaired with lifelong skills for independent travel through quality Leader Dogs, highly effective client instruction and innovative services. Each year, over 200 students attend our 25 day residential training program to be paired with a guide dog. We also offer an additional component to our guide dog program where we teach people how to use audible, pedestrian GPS to navigate both familiar and new environments in conjunction with their guide dog.
