Purpose | To improve the quality of life of people who are blind, visually impaired, or with other special needs. |
Service | Since 1946, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, a not-for-profit organization, has provided guide and service dogs, free of charge, to qualified people who seek the increased freedom, mobility, and companionship these dogs bring. A person who is blind or has low vision can achieve independence when they are teamed with a guide dog. |
Eligibility | A person must be legally blind. |

Ages Served | Applicant ages: minimum is high school student; no maximum age limit. |
