Purpose | To promote wise management and conservation of our rural and urban forest resources in Carroll County through advocacy and environmental education. |
Service | This network of local citizens serves voluntarily as an advocate for our trees and forests. Members are involved in education projects promoting conservation of woodland, water and wildlife on the local level. This includes assisting schools and volunteer groups with obtaining grants for tree planting projects on public open space, managing the Carroll County Weed Warriors program and the Backyard Buffers program and sponsoring educational workshops. The Board sponsors two Carroll County High School students each year to attend the Natural Resources Careers Camp in Garret County, MD. The Board is part of the State Association of Forest Conservancy District Boards, which includes forestry boards from all 23 Maryland counties and Baltimore City. The Carroll County Forestry Board meets once a month at the Westminster Senior Activity Center on Stoner Avenue. Meetings are open to the public. Those interested are encouraged to attend. 501C-3 organization. |
