Purpose | To promote public awareness and participation in the restoration and protection of the water quality, and aquatic and land resources of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. |
Service | Trust grants are available to nonprofit organizations, civic groups, and schools for qualified citizen involvement projects relating to the restoration of the Bay and its tributaries. The Trust provides grant writing assistance and project development guidance to applicants. Many community organizations throughout Maryland have shared in grants for stream cleanups, tree and marsh grass plantings, erosion control projects, water quality monitoring, habitat restoration and the development of awareness programs and educational materials to instill a better understanding of the Bay in people of all ages. The Trust is supported in part by proceeds from the income tax checkoff on the Maryland State Tax return, and by proceeds from sales of the commemorative Chesapeake Bay license plate. Call 410-974-2941 with any questions about the commemorative license plate or the grant program. |
