Purpose | To offer a positive alternative to traditional sentencing options used by the courts. |
Service | Through the VCSP, judges and the juvenile master may assign nonviolent traffic and criminal offenders perform unpaid community work in lieu of another disposition. Under this program, the offender has the choice of accepting the traditional sentence of fine and/or incarceration, for example, or volunteering to work a court-designated number of hours of community service for nonprofit organizations, public agencies, civic groups and/or religious facilities. |
Eligibility | Judges select the participants (nonviolent offenders only). |
Area Served | Serves Carroll County, plus nationally as needed. |
