PurposeTo provide emergency 911 services, countywide 800 MHz radio system operation, emergency management support services, and to serve as liaison to and provide support to the County volunteer fire/rescue/emergency medical services and law enforcement agencies.
ServiceOperates the 911/Emergency Communications Center (ECC), including emergency dispatch and radio communications services for fire, rescue, and emergency medical services, as well as law enforcement. Calls to 911 originating from within the County, which are for emergencies, only, are answered at the 911/ECC. In addition to supporting emergency services, the Center operates the County's 800 MHz trunked radio system in support of the many non-emergency government agencies (municipal, county, and state) that utilize the radio system. Emergency Management services are provided, including pre-incident planning, emergency preparedness, disaster management, and coordination of post-disaster recovery efforts, as well as coordination of Homeland Security grants and assisting the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) with its federally mandated responsibilities. The Department also provides a variety of services in support of the County's emergency services community, which include a countywide rural fire protection water supply program, a secured key box for emergency access program, site development and residential subdivision plan review, the certification of adequate facilities and available threshold capacity, and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) program.
