Purpose | To offer disability related training, education, publications, and events for children and adults with disabilities, their families and caregivers, and healthcare and education professionals. |
Service | Members work to enhance quality of life regardless of the nature or severity of the disability, empower individuals with disabilities to achieve economic self-sufficiency and independent living, and promote inclusion to enjoy full participation in society. Offers the World of Possibilities Expos in Timonium, the largest disabilities expo in the mid-Atlantic region; the Caring Kit, which shows individuals how to start a community-based respite care training program; the Caring Network, a registry to match parents seeking temporary or respite care for their children with disabilities with a trained caregiver, and local respite care trainings. All caregivers have been trained by Caring Communities. Publications include the World of Possibilities magazine and About Our Family, a respite care workbook. Eligibility | Open to all families of children, adults, seniors and veterans with disabilities statewide. |
Fees | No fees are charged for the Caring Network registry services; nominal entrance fee for Expo. |
Ages Served | Care is provided for individuals with disabilities from infant to 21 years old. |
Area Served | Serves Maryland. |
