Purpose | The Maryland-Greater DC Chapter works to help asthma and allergy sufferers successfully manage and control their disease through the support of education, advocacy, referrals and research. Major activities include accredited childcare provider course, school liaison, patient assistance and professional education courses. |
Service | SERVICES/PROGRAMS: ASTHMA EDUCATION – “Asthma & Allergy Essentials” for school staff and for child care staff; Coach’s Clipboard Program, “Winning with Asthma” for coaches of youth sports (Partner: Lt. Governor Anthony Brown’s office & DHMH); “Asthma in the Older Adult: A Toolkit for Better Health” (workshop for caregivers plus a resource/reference binder) Programs designed for various age groups on asthma/allergy awareness, indoor trigger control; INFORMATION & REFERRAL - Health Fairs; Physician referrals; continuing medical education seminars; information packets on specific aspects. PUBLICATIONS: Patient information pamphlets, handouts and articles on asthma and allergies; Literature provided in English and Spanish. DONATIONS: Will accept donations to further the AAFA mission through workplace giving campaigns or online. Check website for ways to help. AAFA MD/DC Chapter is a Community Health Charities member. |
