- Purpose
- The mission of Camelot West Family Services as a non-profit organization is to strive at help the community by providing informational services and offering the community a hand up not a handout.
- Service
- One of the many services Camelot West Family Services Inc. offers is sponsoring Santa and Mrs. Claus for the City of Westminster since 2012. Santa and Mrs. Claus can be seen in the Miracle on Main Street Holiday parade followed by the Tree lighting and Santas Treats. Children can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus in their house outside of the Westminster Library between Thanksgiving and Christmas, during Big Country Breakfast with Santa at Carroll County Career and Technology Center, They visit with families and classes at The Carroll County Farm Museum and visit local businesses such as Cultivated, Rudolph Girls and many other local businesses. We work with Carroll Springs Elementary Schools Sensory Santa events as well as sharing a date night with the amazing clients of Carroll County Adaptive Parks and Recreation for their annual Jingle Bell Hop. Santa and Mrs. Claus visit schools like Hampstead Elementary, and Assisted Living Facilities like The Terraces of Westminster and Golden Crest Assisted Living for Christmas in July and in December for their Holiday celebrations Since 2000 Sandi and Matthew West along with Camelot West Family Services have been collecting monetary donations every year to purchase stuffed animals and with the assistance of Santa and Mrs. Claus, Camelot West Family Services deliver the stuffed animals to the Herman Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai and Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore. These two hospitals provide a number of children with needed medical care at a very crucial time in their young lives. We in-turn provide the families with a simple gift that carries them through a difficult time and beyond. In an article Helping Hospitalized Children Through the Gift of Stuffed Animals by Madison Petro and printed by Random Acts in March 27, 2024, For children and adults in hospitals, stuffed animals are often a multi-purpose coping tool for medical-related fears. Research shows that stuffed animals serve as a distraction from fears, as well as being a familiar face in an unfamiliar setting. Stuffed animals also help healthcare workers form a bond with the kids they treat. For more information reach out to us.
