PurposeThe JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra (JDCRO) is a non-profit community group of students in 6th - 12th grade, (above level 5th graders) and adult volunteers who perform concerts to help raise funds and awareness for charities. Talented musicians perform as vocalists or string, brass, woodwind, guitar, drum, bass guitar, piano or rhythm section players, providing fun, family-friendly musical entertainment. Under the leadership of Joey Dundore, the JDCRO refines an ambitious set of Rock, Pop, Motown, Jazz & Classical favorites as they prepare for live shows to benefit charitable causes. With singers and a wide variety of instrumentalists, from violins to tubas to electric guitars, saxophones and more, the JDCRO rocks the music during many exciting performances at community and charity events every year!
ServiceThe JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra serves both area students and charities in the community. Students improve confidence, technical ability on their instrument, music reading and performance skills. Students also earn service learning hours supporting charities. The orchestra entertains and enlivens charity events to improve awareness, increase charitable donations, and generally help make charitable events more enjoyable so that participants in these events come back year after year. The orchestra has supported the fight against many diseases, entertained the elderly, supported educational causes, raised food for the needy and supported wounded veterans. Charities and causes supported include the American Cancer Society, the Nathan Chris Baker Foundation, Carroll Hospice, Fairhaven Continuing Care, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Wounded Warrior Project, Battle of the Books, and more.
