Service | Laura provides individual counseling via a secure virtual online live stream platform only. Online therapy benefits are: no travel time, no chance of running into someone you know in the waiting room, and it can provide access to those who have difficulty making it in to an office. The platform is HIPAA compliant and Ms. Rhodes takes most major insurances, though you need to check with your insurance company to be sure that they will cover on-line counseling before starting, otherwise you will be responsible for the fee yourself. Several major studies have shown online counseling to be just as effective as in person counseling. https://www.apa.org/helpcenter/online-therapy.aspx Ms. Rhodes has spent many years counseling Children, Adolescents, and Adults in Individual and Group Therapy. She works with both men and women. She has extensive training in working with Sexual Assault and Abuse, Physical Abuse, Neglect and Domestic Violence Victims and Offenders. In addition, she has years of experience working with Traumatic loss, Grief, Post Traumatic Stress, Adjustment and Anxiety Disorders, Parent- Child Relationship Issues, Bipolar, Depression, Dissociative Disorders, Anger Management issues, Parenting issues, the use of Eating, Substance Use or Self Harm as coping mechanisms, and other addictive and obsessive coping behaviors. In addition she works with clients regarding bullying, and stress due to acculturation or LGBT issues. Laura believes in working with the client as a partner in treatment often teaching relaxation techniques, awareness of mind/body connection, and utilizing cognitive behavioral counseling, creative guided imagery, communication skills, and emotional freedom techniques. |
