Purpose | To empower young singers by providing the foundations of music literacy and preparing them to read and perform written music fluently. Vibrant classes feature play-based musical activities, which engage the whole brain and body, making music learning fun! |
Service | One of the region's oldest children's choruses, Children's Chorus of Maryland (CCM) offers exceptional music education and choral training for children ages 4 to 16. "Crickets", our music and play class is a fun introduction to singing for children ages 4 to 6. "Crickets" is offered once a week for 10 weeks each fall and winter/spring. Our Conservatory Music Program is for children as young as 5 ½. Auditions are held each spring for the following fall season. Under the direction of Artistic Director Susan Bialek, the program offers highly qualified teachers, small classes and in-depth vocal enrichment to provide children with a complete musical education and choral experience. Choirs perform locally during the academic year at well-known regional and national venues, and have earned spots in a variety of children's choral festivals in the US and abroad. Twice a week education classes and performance rehearsals are held from September to May at CCM's facility near downtown Towson. Children's Chorus of Maryland welcomes families whose children attend public, private and parochial schools as well as those who are homeschooled. Merit and need-based scholarships are available Interested families can call 410-494-1480 for more information or visit www.ccmsings.org. |
