| Purpose | To mediate complaints brought by the public regarding unfair and deceptive business practices. |
| Service | Jurisdiction includes the purchase of goods or services for personal, household, family, or agricultural purposes. Division acts as mediator between the consumer and merchant. Either party to a dispute may request arbitration. Both parties agree to be bound by the arbitrator's decision. General consumer complaints may be directed to 410-528-8662. Appeals to health care claims decisions will be handled at 877-261-8807. Consumers may also call 410-576-6350 to determine whether their health club, weight loss center or martial arts school is registered with the state, as required by law. Complaints about businesses located on the Eastern Shore should be addressed to the Salisbury office. LARGO - 9200 Basil Court, Suite 301, Largo, MD 20774. Open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday; phone is 301-368-6200. Complaints regarding businesses in Prince George's County may be sent directly to this office.
