PurposeTo collect, preserve, and interpret information relating to the history and culture of the mid-Atlantic region.
ServiceLibrary collections include books, rare books, pamphlets, sheet music, periodicals, subject vertical files, and genealogical reference files; manuscript family papers, organization and business records; prints, photographs, maps, and ephemera. Mounts historical exhibits. Assists in genealogical studies and historical research. Fees are charged for mail inquiries and professional genealogist's searches. Museum includes permanent exhibits about Maryland history, as well as changing exhibitions. Museum collections include paintings, furniture, silver, ceramics and glass, costumes, textiles, toys, and maritime artifacts. Programs include tours, concerts, lectures, classes, and craft demonstrations by Maryland artisans.
