Purpose | To promote the hobby of homebrewing; to provide education about the art and science of homebrewing; to act as a member forum for discussions on beer and brewing, and to promote the responsible use and consumption of beer. |
Service | Hosts formal and informal tasings of members' homebrew focusing on flavor characteristics and adherence to style guidelines as specified by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA). Tastings hosted by the League are responsible tastings which focus on the consumption of safe quantities of homebrew along with a full meal. Besides tastings, the League hosts several large annual brewing events in May and July which are open to the public, conducts homebrewing demonstrations and educational sessions at the annual Maryland Microbrewery Festival at the Union Mills Homestead, sponsors field trips to microbreweries, camping trips and other social events for homebrewers and their families. Publishes a quarterly newsletter and a web site. |
Eligibility | Members must brew, or be interested in learning to brew. |
Fees | Annual fees: $18.50 for individuals and $32.00 for couples. |
Ages Served | Members must be 21 years or older. |
Area Served | Serves Carroll and surrounding counties. |
