Purpose | To support the University of Maryland Extension mission by educating residents about safe, effective and research based horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities. |
Service | Teaching Carroll County citizens sustainable gardening through giving classes, workshops and clinics. Subjects: woody plants, home fruit and vegetable production, Integrated Pest Management, ornamental flowers and herb gardening, soils, fertilizers, compost making and lawn care. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices. The Master Gardener program recruits interested volunteers and enrolls them in a training program designed to equip participants to serve Carroll County through various activities. Annual training.
