| Purpose | To provide lifelong advocacy services to Marylanders with developmental disabilities when their parents are no longer able (or sooner as arranged by parents.) |
| Service | Experienced Advocates address the preferences, needs, and rights of Marylanders with I/DD. Parents determine the frequency of assessment visits, monitoring contacts, and when services begin. Serves as a resource for parents, remaining siblings, and/or trustees. Formed by parents in 1965, By Their Side is a family funded non-profit 501(c)3 charitable corporation and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. |
| Eligibility | A diagnosis of developmental disability, eligible for DDA services and a Maryland resident to be eligible. |
| Fees | One time fee for Annual Assessment visit; $85/hour for members or $100/hour for non members for additional advocacy services |
