Purpose | To improve the political, social, economic, and educational status of minority groups; promote racial harmony and eliminate racial prejudice; to increase public awareness of the adverse effects of racial discrimination, and, where such discrimination is found to exist, secure its lawful elimination. |
Service | Operating through volunteer committees, the branch focuses on education issues, economic development, housing, labor and industry, youth affairs, and legal redress. The chapter seeks to educate minority citizens about their rights and the availability of public and private services. It will, after investigation, mediate, assist with grievance filings, explore the need for legal action, or otherwise counsel individuals who allege that they have been discriminated against on the basis of race or ethnicity. The chapter takes public positions on matters that uniquely affect the well-being of the minority community. |
