| To provide resource material, referral information, and training for parents, students and educators who are experiencing learning or developmental difficulties. |
| Responds to inquiries about Carroll County Public School programs, services, policies, and procedures for children with difficulties. Also provides families, professionals, and community groups with information, training and support. The center encourages parent involvement and collaborative partnerships between families, educators and related professionals. Assists families to address concerns, resolve conflicts, and make informed decisions regarding their child's education. Houses an extensive multimedia borrowing library which includes special education materials, as well as parenting and teaching materials. These may be borrowed by calling the center. Also provides free workshops on special education-related topics. The center is staffed by a parent of a child who has received special education services within the county, and a consulting special educator. It is under the supervision of Jane Conner, Supervisor of Special Education and is part of the Special Education Department of Carroll County Public Schools.
