| Purpose | To develop optimism as a philosophy of life; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; to aid and encourage development of youth; to promote patriotism and work for international accord. |
| Service | Programs include community service projects, a children's Christmas party, youth appreciation, essay contest, oratorical contest, Scouting, golf tournament, support of the Special Olympics, soccer, softball, football, cheerleading and lacrosse. Various fund-raisers include crab feast, bull & oyster roast, raffles, shrimp feast, New Year's Eve party, golf tournament and selling Entertainment Books. Rental of the Freedom Community Center, 6315 Sykesville Road also available; contact Bill Merritt or Dave Kelbaugh, 410-795-7181. All activities are open to the public. General meetings are 7:30 pm the third Tuesday of each month at the Freedom Optimist Community Center. |
