PurposeThe Bureau of Aging & Disabilities is a Maryland Access Point (MAP) site, otherwise known as an Aging and Disability Resource Center. The agency is dedicated to providing the highest quality of services, programs and assistance to promote choice, dignity and independence in older adults, adults with disabilities and those who care for them.
ServiceThe Bureau of Aging & Disabilities is responsible for a wide range of programs and services for older adults (60 +) and adults (18+) with disabilities in Carroll County. Combined federal, state, and county funding support essential services for Carroll's older adults and adults with disabilities. Programs and activities are offered regardless of race, creed, or national origin. Many programs are offered free of charge. Other programs require small fees and all programs accept donations to help defray costs. Connects individuals to services about housing options, caregiver resources, energy assistance, homeowners' tax credit, renters' tax credit, Medicare and health insurance, prescription assistance, transportation, long term care options, mental health resources, volunteer opportunities, referrals to community service providers and more. Programs offered include: Information & Assistance, Center for Independent Living (CIL), National Family Caregiver Support, Senior Care, Senior Assisted Living Group Home Subsidy, Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP), Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), Transportation, Medicaid Waiver for Older Adults (MWOA), Money Follows the Person (MFP), Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, Leagal Aid Bureau, Inc., Guardianship, Senior Inclusion Program and Senior and Community Centers.
